Description

@codingboy-ai

Hi maintainers and community 👋

First of all, huge thanks to the authors and maintainers of deepwiki-open. This open source foundation made everything below possible. The architecture, ideas, and implementation quality have been extremely helpful during development. Respect to all contributors ❤️

I’d like to share a derivative project built on top of deepwiki-open:

Project name: Repothread
Website: https://www.repothread.com

Repothread is a secondary development based on deepwiki-open, aimed at improving the overall experience of “repository-level knowledge understanding + AI interaction”, especially around continuity, usability, and multi-language support.

Why this project

While using deepwiki, I personally felt that the AI chat experience and the documentation view were somewhat disconnected. So in Repothread, I adopted a layout inspired by Google’s design pattern to make chat and repository context feel more tightly integrated.

Main changes / extensions (compared to deepwiki-open)

  • Adjusted UI layout to make chat and repository knowledge flow more cohesive
  • Moved task progress management to the backend (instead of relying purely on frontend state)
  • Added persistent storage
  • Supabase is used as the database layer
  • Code generation and analysis currently use GLM + DeepSeek models
  • Added an AI chat feature (currently running GLM-4.7)

Language support

  • Currently supports: Chinese / English / Japanese
  • If there’s demand for other languages, feel free to suggest — happy to consider adding more

Project status

The project is still under active development. Some features (payments, pro reports, etc.) are implemented but not publicly enabled yet. If the current project maintainers agree, once the pro version is launched, free pro access codes will be shared here in this project.

What I’m looking for

  • Feedback from developers familiar with deepwiki-open
  • Suggestions on architecture, UX, or feature direction
  • Thoughts on whether these changes make sense or could be improved

Once again, sincere thanks to the deepwiki-open maintainers and all contributors. This issue is mainly to say “thank you”, share what was built on top of it, and hopefully hear constructive feedback from the community.

Thanks for reading 🙏
