Possibly not working "slide show" on GMT website

I am wondering whether the "slide show" of the GMT website at https://www.generic-mapping-tools.org/#carousel-example-generic is currently not working. For me, it is not possible to switch between the different figures manually. Also, the figure does not change automatically after some time. This issue occurs when using Microsoft Edge, Firefox (Windows and Linux), or Google Chrome (Windows and Linux).

Same here on Safari/macOS.

I think this is because the theme we use is very outdated and is relying on a js library for the carousel that isn't available on the CDN anymore. Fixing this would mean updating the entire website theme to either something custom made or an actively developed theme.
