Hello neighbor, potential collaberation and knowledge share

Hello, I stumbled across this project when looking for code that imports cmd/go for reference for a compiler I created called go2hx. I believe we are sister projects with similar goals, but for different target ecosystems.

Haxe is what becomes of the Go code with the transpiler, it's a strictly typed programming language, with a garbage collector. Haxe can in turn compile into many other programming languages: C++, Java, Js.

go2hx's focus is on improving the Haxe ecosystem.
go2cs's from what I understand, is on improving the c# ecosystem.

Perhaps we can knowledge share or collaborate in some way. go2hx unfortunately will remove it's c# target for the next major release version, so any type of gap filling ideas is off the table for now.

Perhaps regardless, we can knowledge transfer, and look at each other's projects to fix issues. Let me know!

Sure thing - this is a pet project, and has been quite challenging, but many hurdles have been overcome.

There are a few main pieces that may be of interest to you:

1. Go Code Converter -- this is written in Go. I originally started this task in Antlr using C#, but it hit too many walls. The Go eco system for parsing and interpreting code is excellent -- and it's fast.
2. C# Source Generators -- this automates many tasks that "hide" the complexities of Go implementation of the C# converted code -- the goal being keeping the C# code as close to Go as possible. This is has been very effective:
   a) Go Example
   b) C# Example -- the [GoType] attribute in this converted code example auto-generates source code to make C# struct instances have Go-like behavioral semantics
3. C# Go String Implementation -- creates a C# string that acts just like a Go string. There are many like this: C# golib.
4. There are many behavioral tests to ensure code conversion updates do not break -- these may be useful examples for you:
   a) Behavioral Tests

My latest task -- which is going to take me a while to churn through -- is complete conversion of the Go core library:

@ritchiecarroll Thanks for the response, go2hx is at the stage of churning through the standard library as well, the biggest thing that go2cs seems to have a much better handle on is the conversion of Go code into very readable c# code, we are looking into how to improve our generation in order to have Go examples in Haxe code, be able to be added into the documentation, and that code be readable. Right now the generated code uses a lot of extra unneeded type hinting and does not have any special goType semeantic, instead creating a large variable mapping of all used Go type information.

That along with other issues such as interface casting being rather untivitve to invoke by a user.
