Hi there! Just wanterd to show my gratitude for this script.
I also want to tell you that on several installations using ZFS mirror I've been unable to login after installation with the password specified. Tried everything but to no use. When it works it's great! Thanks and good work! Also, update script for Ubuntu 24.04 or 25 releases?

Hrm - I haven't bumped into that. Are you able to ssh into the new install ? I'm assuming the password problem is when logging in at the console prompt ?

Almost all of my own installs (workstation, laptops etc) are using mirrored drives as the boot drives.

If you can reproduce the issue reliably, here are a couple of things you might try ...

• Run the script with -d to essentially do a set -x in the script. Then scroll through the install log /root/ZFS-setup.log and look for problems
• The main user is created at line 1871 (https://github.com/Halfwalker/ZFS-root/blob/master/ZFS-root.sh#L1871). Add an echo ${UPASSWORD} ; sleep 5 there to output the actual password being set so you can verify it.

If you're using a ZFS-root.conf you could post that here (sans your password) and I can try it in Virtualbox.

I've been sticking to LTS releases in general. Slotting in other releases isn't too hard though - I've been thinking about simplifying the release management.
