Sample repository is not working

Hi,
I cloned this repository to ibmi and already installation of BOB has been done.
But i am unable to Build anything out of the sample repository.
i need to know , how this build of Bob works. need your help.
i want to do for my project.
literally need your help.

Please confirm

1. that this command is being run in the subdirectory containing the git clone?
2. that the BOBDEMO library does not contain new version of the target objects?

Hi Edmund,
as i have installed Bob in my ibmi then i cloned your Sample repository.
Inside sample repository i am running the command by defining the library environment first.
1.yes, i am running the command in main(root) repository .
main directory where iproj.json is available.

2. I didn't get you what type of new version should contain in target library?
   As i created new library named as lib1=BOBDEMO.
   As i went through one of your youtube videos "ibmi-bob: Installation and introduction".

Can you screen cap the results of
pwd and ls -al and cat Rules.mk

OK, the main thing I see is that in your crm/Rules.mk you are referencing

A.PGM: qrpglesrc/a.pgm.rpgle

Rather you should just have

SUBDIRS = qrpglesrc ...

and in xa/crm/qrpglesrc have another Rules.mk

IMC0CA0R.PGM: ibmc0ca0r.pgm.rpgle ...

i.e. the Rules.mk should be in the same folder as the source being built.

Note that your .ibmi.json is redundant and unnecessary

Do i need to have Rules.mk in crm or not?
are u referring to testpgm.rpgle --> that is for testing purpose i created.
so in the root directory of rules.mk, i need to have changes like this down mentioned
i need to add these type of :
SUBDIRS = qbnddirsrc qclsrc qcmdsrc qddssrc qdtaarasrc qmsgsrc qpnlsrc qrpglesrc qrpgmodsrc qrpgsrc qsqlsrc srcf
correct?

The .ibmi.json --> is that correct one ?

As i have added the Rules.mk in xa/crm/qrpglesrc.

And what is the xa/crm/Rules.mk? Does it now include SUBDIRS = qrpglesrc

I am providing a screen shot -> My main repository is XA --> inside XA i have iproj.josn, Rules.mk, and .ibmi.json.
XA Rules.mk contains --> Screens shot below:
yes, i have added qrpglesrc in SUBDIRS

when i do cd in XA/crm --> i created one more Rules.mk --> beause crm contains

I want to know the flow of BOB , How it is creating the build.
As i cloned your sample repository also --> it was also not working when tried Building it.

One of the nice features of BOB is that each Rules.mk is very simple and is ONLY responsible for the directory it is in.
If the SUBDIRS entry is there, then BOB will look into the listed directories and process their Rule.mk
In this way you can have an arbitrary directory structure and each Rules.mk is simple to code and understand.

Your problem is that your top Rules.mk should ONLY list the immediate subdirectories like crm
The xa/crm/Rules.mk should ONLY list its subdirectories
SUBDIRS = qrpglesrc qddssrc ...
AND the xa/crm/qrpglesrc/Rules.mk should now list the actual PGMs to compile and the LOCAL source to compile them from.

ABC.PGM: abc.pgm.rpgle
DEF.PGM: def.pgm.rpgle

AND the xa/crm/qddssr/Rules.mk should list the DSPF, FILE, etc. to compile

ABCD.FILE: abcd.dspf
DEFG.FILE: defg.pf

please look at the sample bob-recursive-example for how to do this.

If the bob-recursive-example please cd into the cloned bob-recursive-example
prove it with pwd
then do the makei command and show me what happens
