This station examines computer input options for individuals with limited mobility, emphasizing the accessibility of Windows when enhanced input devices are used.

Purpose of the display

This station demonstrates the diversity of computer input methods available for individuals with limited mobility. By offering a wide range of adaptive mice, keyboards, and voice input tools, this setup highlights how technology can meet diverse physical needs, empowering users to fully interact with Windows.

Detailed description

The display is arranged on a light wooden desk, with several input devices laid out to showcase accessibility innovations. A shelf to the left extends the collection by displaying more adaptive mice and tools.

Input Devices on the Desk

Quad Joy Mouth Mouse - Positioned on a flexible arm attached to the desk, this device allows users to control the cursor by sipping and puffing through a straw. It’s ideal for individuals with limited or no hand mobility.

Pretorian Joystick - A silver joystick with tremor-filtering technology designed for users with cerebral palsy or other conditions that cause involuntary movements. It provides smooth and controlled navigation.

Logitech Vertical Mouse - A gray, ergonomic mouse with a vertical design that reduces wrist strain, making it suitable for individuals with repetitive strain injuries or carpal tunnel syndrome.

Contour RollerMouse Pro3 - This black input device is integrated into a wrist rest, allowing users to move the cursor using a roller bar, reducing the need for extensive hand movement.

GlassOuse Head-Mounted Pointer - Positioned on the desk, this head-mounted device uses motion tracking to control the cursor, enabling hands-free navigation for users with severe mobility limitations.

Microphone for Windows Voice Access - A black microphone is placed to the left of the monitor, facilitating hands-free control of Windows using voice commands.

Kinesis Advantage 2 QD Keyboard - Positioned centrally on the desk, this split ergonomic keyboard features a concave key layout and mechanical keys, designed for users who type extensively or need customizable key mapping for accessibility.

Shelf with Additional Mice

A dark blue shelf to the left of the desk showcases an extended collection of adaptive mice, including:

A blue ball joystick.

A white joystick with a large base.

Several ergonomic mice with unique shapes and layouts designed to reduce strain and accommodate different hand positions.

Specialty mice for gaming and precise navigation.

Software and Other Tools

The station includes software tools tailored for customized mouse operation, enabling users to adjust sensitivity, button functions, and navigation settings to suit their needs.

Overall Setup

The desk features a large monitor with a reflective black screen. In the background, the jellyfish fiber optic display from the sensory space can be seen through the reflection, adding a touch of interconnected design.

A Station QR tag is positioned on the desk, providing quick access to more information about the display.

The area is well-lit, with a gray textured wall and a modern blue chair complementing the setup.

This station illustrates the range of input devices and software tools available to enhance computer accessibility. By addressing diverse needs, this display empowers individuals with limited mobility to interact with technology seamlessly and efficiently.
