Downloading videos issue

A few days ago, maybe even more, 4chan made some changes to the servers, and we can't download any videos from the site anymore!

I heard that all the other downloaders are suffering from this issue now.

Any updates for the tool or workarounds?

Hi there, I hadn't used the program for a long time, just opened it up and tested it on a /gif/ thread and it was having issues with downloading the thread HTML (forbidden). I disabled that setting and it seemed to work fine. Can you confirm? If not, can you share log files?

I unchecked everything except the save url on exit.
It didn't helped!

Having same issue. Threads from /wsg/ or /gif/ only save .gif files, no .webm's or .mp4's.

@just4fun2025 all of the errors in your log file are (429) Too Many Requests this means that the 4chan servers have decided you request too much and have blocked you.

Last time this happened I stopped using GChan, called my ISP and asked them to reset my IP Address. Wait a while to use GChan again (about a week). Then alter the GChan settings to scrape much slower, so that you don't get detected again.

Just to clarify, i could download pics and gifs, but not the videos.
This is with the "concurrent downloads" set: 35 (default).

I did a few tests, with and without VPN to check if i'm blocked, and i am!
Reducing "concurrent downloads" set to 2 (max) "fixed" the issue, but it's working for me only with VPN right now. I'm sure after some "cool time" i can use it without VPN with the reduced set.

My conclusions:

• Videos are treated differently than pics and gifs.
  It looks like 4chan "can block your ip" from downloading videos separately from pics and gifs!?
  Maybe different severs? Or maybe a battle neck you create? Not sure.
  Pics have more requests than videos, but my knowledge of how it works is close to 0.
• If you want to avoid blocks or issues, reduce the "concurrent downloads" in the settings to 1 or max 2.

I remember in the past, i got a total block from the site, and used VPN for downloading, but never got a specific block only on the videos.
