3440x1440 monitor resolution does not appear on console resolution list

that does not work, Particulary in full screen it does not even resize the image, it's just the screen with black borders all around if for instance the resolution is set to 1024x768

This is due to a limitation of mstsc itself; the resolution cannot be adjusted on the login screen. You only need to adjust the resolution after logging into the desktop.

sorry but no. only 1024x768 resolution works, selecting any other resolution does nothing ( the resolution continues to be 1024x768 and the selector stays on 1024x768 ). After logging in, resolution cannot be changed, fullscreen just shows black borders.

It is strange; if you are using version 1.5.0, you shouldn't be encountering this issue in Enhanced Session Mode. Currently, it only occurs with Enhanced Session Mode combined with an unlogged-in user.

yep, 1.5.0 here and it happens logged in or not logged in, in enhanced or normal mode. I only get 1024x768

Try connecting to your virtual machine using mstsc; the underlying mechanism is the same. If the resolution remains locked at 1024x768, it suggests there is an unusual setting on your computer. If it isn't locked at 1024x768, I apologize, but I haven't been able to reproduce the issue on my end.

I have absolutely no issues using windows remote desptop ( mstsc ) and never had. It's what I use. The only problem that I have is that because the GPU I am sharing with the windows 11 vm is an amd gpu from the cpu ( 9950x3d ) the gpu video encoders/decoders are not passed and I cant enable advanced gpu features like acceleration. I was hopping that your console app would be better

Whether GPU-related features are enabled or supported is determined by the upstream vendors (Microsoft and AMD).
We are currently unable to reproduce the resolution issue you are experiencing, but we have logged it; if you can provide debugging information from your device along with a precise fix, we will incorporate it into the mainline version.

no idea how to debug. mstrsc works without any issue. ExHyperV console doesn't. What is the console app you are using on EXHyperV? Maybe try updating it, or I can try it manually or check if there is another version.

ExhyperV utilizes the mstscax approach, which is implemented by directly calling the mstsc interface. You might want to try an older version that includes console functionality to see if resolution adjustment works correctly there. Honestly, the new version is technically superior in terms of design and implementation, so I think the chances of pinpointing the specific issue are slim—at least I don't have any leads right now, as everything works perfectly in my various test environments.
If possible, please record a video of the application adjusting the resolution—both in Basic Session mode (changing settings inside the VM) and Enhanced Session mode (dragging the window border or using the dropdown menu)—and upload it here. If the video helps anyone (whether it's me or another community member) identify the root cause, we can find a way to fix the problem.
