Proposal for an auto-save function

I would like the ability to perform an auto-save.
For example, I would like to save automatically when I set a respawn point or when I enter a world.

If possible, I would also like the ability to automatically clear past autosaves.

I've already thought about an auto save every X minutes, but that is a good addition to an auto save feature.
I added it to my to-do list, but I don't now when I will do it.
