[SUGGESTION] Collaborations to avoid the RtW issue

Hi there,
as an old Vegas Pro legit user (and v23 official beta tester) I would really love to have a (close) open alternative.

Anyway it's not a good idea to develop an NLE from scratch, so my suggestion is to customize - to look/feels like Vegas Pro - an existing one to avoid the deadly Reinvent the Wheel issue.

I've collected some of that for the HyMPS project under VIDEO \ Editors \ NLE.
(note: even if Kdenlive has - according to Perplexity - the highest-customizable UI, I strongly suggest you to evaluate Shotcut as a base instead)

But, if you wanna start your own from scratch anyway, choose a proper+supported video engine backend IMHO.

Honestly this project is more for playing around but a serious attempt would be more practical to just get something like kdenlive and hack an UI together to simulate the look and feel of Vegas Pro.
If you want take a stab at it to create a proof of concept with a proper video backend I'm open to pull requests, I think it would be cool to create something from scratch and it might not be so insane to do nowadays.
You are the second person that finds this repository and ask about it, so it probably means there is some demand to a project like this.
When I have some time I will try to compile kdenlive on my machine to see how hard it would be to hack the UI to make it operates like vegas.
