Problem uploading plugin to wordpress

When I try to upload the plugin using the ZIP file method in WordPress, I get an error saying that no plugins were found and the installation could not be completed.

Can you please clarify what you mean by the ZIP file method. Currently, there are no distribution ZIPs of the plugin, and if you're sourcing from the "v0.1.0 release", well that one doesn't even contain the necessary plugin files.

You can download the source from https://github.com/WordPress/mcp-adapter/archive/refs/heads/trunk.zip and build it yourself, although note that integration with v0.1.0 of the Abilities API is in WordPress/abilities-api#27 and still yet to be merged.

So I might have got it wrong, I thought that when in the installation part it said "The best and easiest way to try and use the MCP Adapter is to install it as a plugin by downloading the latest release from the [GitHub Releases page]" there was already a final version, but i'll have to wait =).

Also, I have been trying out the Wordpress MCP and since this MCP Adapter is going to substitute it, I have thought of a couple of features that it didn't have which I think would significantly improve the quality of the MCP Adapter and allow for an almost fully automated workflow:

• Get and modify a post by its code.
• Duplicate posts.
• Change the content of an article while maintaining the exact same format (this might be covered by the first feature).

Could the implementing of these features be feasable? Could I even try to implement them myself with vibe coding tools?

With WordPress/abilities-api#27 merged, the built mcp-adapter.zip will be attached to the GitHub release for direct update to WordPress as a functional plugin.

There is a zip there, but it's incomplete. The main plugin file (and I'm sure others) is missing, so you can't activate it.

More specifically, it's just the source code from the initial commit-and-tag, so in addition to the missing plugin entrypoint (since initial commit was only a as Composer library), there's also no vendor dir containing our autoloader.
