Owner action: submit GitHub Pages sitemap to search consoles #16

Description

@aaronlab

Search visibility is a slow but compounding growth channel. BrowserTrace already has a live sitemap and robots.txt on GitHub Pages, but search-console ownership verification and manual sitemap submission require the owner's Google/Microsoft accounts.

Current priority: do this after the X single-post launch in #9 and the higher-intent owner email actions in #10. Search indexing is useful for long-tail discovery, but it should not delay owner-channel posts to Browser Use users.

Prepared URLs:

Owner checklist:

  • Add a URL-prefix property for https://aaronlab.github.io/browsertrace/ in Google Search Console.
  • Use an HTML tag or HTML file verification method; if a token/file is required, paste it into a comment here so it can be added to the repo.
  • Submit https://aaronlab.github.io/browsertrace/sitemap.xml in the Google Search Console Sitemaps report.
  • Inspect the homepage URL and request indexing if Search Console allows it.
  • Add the site to Bing Webmaster Tools, preferably by importing the verified Google Search Console property.
  • Submit the same sitemap in Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • Record a metrics row after submission and add any indexing errors as follow-up comments.

Prepared instructions:

  • docs/launch/search-indexing-submission.md

Stop rules:

  • Do not use automated fake traffic or click farms.
  • Do not create doorway pages or keyword-stuffed pages.
  • Treat search indexing as a long-tail discovery channel, not an immediate star spike.
