Owner action: sign Browser Use CLA, then publish X #9

@aaronlab

Description

@aaronlab

This tracks the current launch actions that require the owner's personal account, login session, 2FA, and human replies.

Do not ask for stars, upvotes, reposts, vote swaps, or artificial engagement. Ask for Browser Use debugging workflow feedback.

Current status

  • Live repo metrics: 3 stars, 22 forks, 0 watchers.
  • The 1000-star objective is not complete.
  • Current release: v0.1.20.
  • PyPI package: browsertrace==0.1.20.
  • BrowserTrace open PRs: 0.
  • Current open good-first issue: Docs: explain compare API use case in Browser Use guide #384.
  • Strongest growth blocker: Browser Use official example PR browser-use/browser-use#4826 is still blocked on the owner-only CLA check.

Current 1-minute blocker

Sign the Browser Use CLA for the official example PR first:

https://cla-assistant.io/browser-use/browser-use?pullRequest=4826

If the status remains pending after signing, use the CLA recheck link:

https://cla-assistant.io/check/browser-use/browser-use?pullRequest=4826

Why this comes first: browser-use/browser-use#4826 is the strongest ecosystem placement now. Code-style, type-checker, tests, GitGuardian, and review checks pass; the remaining blocker is license/cla, and Codex cannot sign it for you.

Next action after CLA

Publish this X single post from the owner's personal account. Attach docs/demo.mp4. If the platform asks for alt text, use the media alt text below.

Browser Use failed on a local `.html` upload: the upload preview never appeared.

That `.html` case is just the demo. BrowserTrace replays browser-agent runs and compares failed vs good runs.

What should it capture?

After posting, send the post URL back to Codex so metrics can be logged and replies can be monitored.

Decision

Do not spend more launch energy on broad low-conversion directories right now. Existing listing PRs should be monitored, but new submissions should wait unless the target is clearly high-fit and non-duplicative.

The current growth path is:

  1. unblock the Browser Use official example PR by signing the CLA;
  2. publish one owner-channel Browser Use debugging story;
  3. monitor real replies and turn concrete workflow feedback into docs/issues;
  4. only then continue LinkedIn, WeChat/Jike, Show HN, Product Hunt, and targeted emails from the prepared packets.

Current story

The live demo replays a Browser Use-shaped local HTML upload navigation failure: the run tries to upload file:///tmp/browsertrace-report.html, but the page navigates to the local file path and the upload preview never appears.

This is the demo story, not the product boundary. BrowserTrace also replays Browser Use, Stagehand, Skyvern, Playwright + LLM, and custom computer-use runs, with Browser Use as the primary wedge.

Use this story in replies if someone asks what kind of failure BrowserTrace helps debug.

Try-it reply

Use this when someone asks how to try it locally:

uvx --from "browsertrace[ui]" browsertrace doctor
uvx --from "browsertrace[ui]" browsertrace demo
uvx --from "browsertrace[ui]" browsertrace list
uvx --from "browsertrace[ui]" browsertrace

Persistent install:

pip install "browsertrace[ui]"
browsertrace doctor
browsertrace demo
browsertrace

Then open http://127.0.0.1:3000 and click demo: Browser Use local HTML upload navigation failure.

Privacy reply

Use this when someone asks whether a real trace can be safely shared publicly:

browsertrace export <run_id> --public -o public.html

--public omits prompt/model I/O, screenshots, and URLs from the standalone HTML export. Use individual redaction flags only when someone wants to keep some fields visible.

Follow-up checklist

  • Sign Browser Use CLA for browser-use/browser-use#4826.
  • Recheck license/cla if needed.
  • Publish X post with docs/demo.mp4.
  • Send the post URL back to Codex.
  • Add a metrics row after the post URL is available.
  • Monitor replies for Browser Use debugging workflow feedback.
  • Convert recurring concrete feedback into docs/issues.
  • Only after X is live, consider LinkedIn, WeChat/Jike, Show HN, Product Hunt, console.dev, and AgDex from the prepared packets.

Stop rules

  • Do not post into generic groups where people are not building agents.
  • Do not ask anyone to star, upvote, repost, or trade engagement.
  • Do not use generated replies verbatim.
  • Stop posting in any community that pushes back on self-promotion.
  • Reply personally; use response templates as notes, not pasted automation.
