Inverted Direction Pin

I am trying to use the TB66 motor driver. It requires two direction pins to select the direction of the motor.

I would like to be able to select a second direction pin from the Pi that is inverted form the other pin.

Example
Pin 4 and and 5 are the selected pins to set direction.

Pin 4 HIGH Pin 5 LOW = motor forward
Pin 4 LOW Pin 5 HIGH = motor reverse (pump down)

There is no setting for this, but you can use a not-gatter to achieve this. There should be ready to use components available for this.

Or try using software without CocktailPi. For example, a Bash script that monitors pin 4 and switches pin 5 by inverting it. Just an idea, I don't know if it will work.

I was hoping for it to be handled though software, so it can cut down on the BOM for my custom PCBs for the cocktail pi.

I dont know coding for Raspberry Pis, more of a micro controller person but I bet that is something ChatGPT can help with. Thank you for the suggestion.

Do you have two relays with changeover contacts lying around? That will work too.
