Cannot Stage Filename With Space

If a file contains a space in its name, staging it results in a pathspec error, since the space is not escaped. All other commands work fine. My current workaround is to stage each block of said file individually, since that works.

I thought it only happened on my end. I’m not sure if it’s caused by spaces in filenames, I rarely use them. But I hit pathspec errors quite often. When that happens, I usually fall back to Magit, which surprisingly works. I’ve tried other TUIs, but Magit/Gitu really fits my taste. I gave Lazygit and GitUI a fair try, but they just don’t feel the same.

I actually wanted to open a similar issue, but I assumed it was just my setup.
