We do ship AWS CLI and it's pretty full featured for using S3. Is there a particular gap?

The usage of it is not easily discernible as customers may still be relying on it for their workloads. We could try to phase it out over time which should have been the case anyway and look to set this up through an alternative method just for compatibility with apps/scripts.
