User Management in Admin Panel

Thanks for building the one-click deploy, full TeXLive for CEP, and the wiki are great. It’s been really solid for me.

I’ve been running your previous overleaf pro release for over a year. The only pain point is user management—right now it requires manual DB operations, which isn’t ideal.

I noticed your CEP demo (https://overleaf-pro.ayaka.space/) has a built-in “User Management” page in the admin panel. But I did not find this page when I tested on Codecpace. Although I believe I have fully followed the deploy step. But is there another built-in way to manage users that I’ve missed?

Yes. Admin panel will come soon, maybe. but currently I need to do some code refactor for this, or overleaf cep. It's available at https://github.com/ayaka-notes/overleaf-pro. Fully open-source but at the very beginning stage.

There are a open-sourced version called overleaf cep, maybe you have already know that.

One fact that has to be said is that overleaf cep has introduced a lot of modifications to the overleaf ontology, which can be said to be less friendly to future maintenance, also means that maintenance will become more and more difficult as time increases.

Another fact is that overleaf has noticed the implementation of these pro features in the community. In the latest version of the code, they have deleted a js file of docker runner. Of course, this does not mean that we can't restore it, but I'm not sure what it will be like in the future.

Finally, I would like to complain that the pricing of overleaf server pro is completely unreasonable. Ten users actually sold for up to 3,400 euros, and even the student version of overleaf common on their official website rose to 10 dollars a month. Two years ago, I might have suggested that you subscribe to the official website, but now I don't want to support overleaf at all. Oh, they also shortened the free user time to 10s. I have never seen a company that can cause trouble to users in these places. The compilation time of 10s can't even compile a small document!

So in general, please believe in the strength of our community, especially with the support of AI, we will win overleaf sooner or later.
