Good afternoon, I am working with EDA data recorded using a Biopac MP36R system, and I would like to confirm the correct parameter settings for the transfer function when importing the data into PsPM. I have already contacted Biopac Support, but the response only clarified the offset value. They did not provide information about the Transfer Constant, Series Resistor, or whether the recording system should be set as conductance or resistance in PsPM. I suspect the terminology may not have been fully clear in my request. I am attaching a screenshot of the channel scaling settings from AcqKnowledge (for the EDA channel). The signal is displayed in µS, and the scaling looks linear. 
Based on PsPM documentation, my current interpretation is: Transfer Constant is 1, Offset is 0, the Series Resistor is 0, and the Recording System is conductance. My questions: 1.Do you agree that these settings (c = 1, R = 0, Recording System = Conductance) are appropriate for MP36R data that is already scaled to µS? 2. I have already processed part of my dataset using no transfer function (“none”) in PsPM. Am I correct in thinking that this is effectively equivalent to setting c = 1 and R = 0 — meaning that I do not need to reprocess previously analysed data? If your MP36R data are scaled to conductance in mcS, then your transfer constant are correct (and this is the same as setting the transfer constant to "none", with the only exception that the latter does not produce units for the data). However, I cannot say whether this is what your system does, and the screenshot above does not say either. You can easily try out by putting a resistor with known value into the circuit and measuring the output. |
