Description
Since 2 months I've been fighting to drive this new breed of Eink displays getting always same response from the TPS65185 PMIC:
VNEG under-voltage
This started because a client sent me a 10.3" display ED103MC2.
No matter what I did on the hardware side it was not powering up the grid. So what I did was pretty straightforward:
I bought an ITE8951 controller from Waveshare that has also this PMIC and where the display seemed to refresh with Eink awkward Microsoft exe called ITEDemo or something that is really painful to use.
And this what I discovered:
This Carta1300 displays need a special UPSEQ values (Up power sequence)
0x09h UPSEQ0 Power-up strobe assignment - set to E1
0x0Ah UPSEQ1 set to AA
And it needs to be send 3 or 4 milliseconds after WAKING UP the IC.
Just before the power up sequence. Then it finally worked. Wouldn't be nice that is documented from Eink side instead of making me waste 15 hours of research ? Yes it could be, but it was not, so we will finally implement it in this issue.
