Making meaningful contracts between backend & frontend using OpenAPI and Oats #37

Description

@bali182

Description

Frontend and backend apps go out of sync very quickly, as backend changes are not reflected on the frontend (unless there are extremely rigorous tests in place - and in 99% of the cases there aren't). In this talk I will demo a solution I've been working on for over a year: An open source code generator, oats, that creates high quality SDKs (for clients) and express backends (for servers) in Typescript, based on OpenAPI documents. Most of what you hear, will be applicable if you are only interested in plain JS too.

Takeaway

After the session you'll be able to build end to end apps in Typescript, or just generate a complete, and strictly typed SDK for your existing backend, based on a language independent OpenAPI document.
