IfcOpenShell is an open source (LGPL) software library that helps users and software developers to work with the IFC file format. The IFC file format can be used to describe building and construction data. The format is commonly used for Building Information Modelling.

Although IFC is something to be taken into consideration and it would definitely be very useful for architects who are using blender, I am afraid we can't add this "addon" to this repo because according to these instructions on the official page it needs to be compiled (and thus it would be specific architecture only whereas this repo is aimed for generic purposes).

I have created this wiki page aimed to provide links and references to interesting and useful scripts which for any reason can't be included here. Since I have also added you as collaborator on this repo you can even edit it at your will.

Closing this issue and marking it as "won't fix" but thank you very much for providing the information.

What are you talking about? The instructions don't say to compile:
Install the Blender add-on by clicking on File > User Preferences > Add-ons > Install from File... and by pointing Blender to the archive downloaded above

You're right, I missred the instructions.
I will add them as soon as I figure out the best way to include it in the repo, since it seems that plugin is architecture-dependent (I will likely have to create different branches per architecture)

The IfcBlender plugin will now be deprecated in favour of a new plugin which offers both import, export, and IFC authoring tools: https://blenderbim.org/
