metal completely fails in landscape mode

any ios build with metal=true, an app launched with the screen in landscape mode
will be drawn in some damaged version of portrait drawing - with the top of screen
at the left side and everything rotated 90 degrees ccw.

any ipad or iphone, just hold the device inhorizontal orientation as you launch

I tried to reproduce it and couldn't. I'm guessing there's a state leak somewhere in the metal possibly related to the latest matrix translation code but it's hard to pin this down without a reproduction sample.

Nevermind, I found a suspect and am looking into it.

it behaves a little differently on each of my ios devices. also behaves badly if started in portrait and then rotated.
