[BUG] cannot show mandarin

Summary

The TUI cannot render Mandarin (Chinese) characters. The text is shown as question marks (?) instead of the actual glyphs.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Launch the boo TUI.
2. Open / display content that contains Mandarin characters.
3. Observe that the Chinese characters render as boxes / question marks instead of readable text.

Expected Behavior

Mandarin characters render correctly in the TUI.

Fixed in v0.5.14 via #49. The boo ui sidebar and status row now render UTF-8 (including Mandarin) instead of ?.
