Homebrew will deprecate darktable on MacOS on 2026-09-01

Hey everyone, thanks a lot for this amazing project. I use MacOS and I install darktable via brew, since today I am getting a

Warning: darktable has been deprecated because it does not pass the macOS Gatekeeper check! It will be disabled on 2026-09-01.

I guess it is technically not a bug but if you could fix it it would be great for me and for everyone that uses MacOS

The Homebrew recipe tells:

disable! date: "2026-09-01", because: :fails_gatekeeper_check

Homebrew has raised its security requirements. Since the darktable package for macOS is unsigned, it does not fulfill these requirements and therefore will be deprecated.

Alternative: Install darktable from our release page.

Yes, because this problem is a consequence of the policy of including packages in the Homebrew package base. This is not a build problem.
