Templates use different versions of ASP.NET

Should the Micro-Frontend Template be updated from v3.1 to v6?

I'm not a .NET developer, so I don't have any context here. I don't know why/when a project should upgrade their version of ASP.NET or .NET Core, but it surprised me that these templates differ.

With new .NET versions being released every year, naturally projects will fall behind. I myself don't feel inclined to migrate every single project in my repos. If anyone is interested to do the work, it's certainly welcomed.
