Offhand I'm not sure why it's happening, since I think github is supposed
to transparently handle conversion between dos and unix line-ending
format. If you're ending up with the ctrl-M's in file on linux machine you
can fix it by opening the file, issuing this command, and saving:

:set fileformat=unix
:w
