No windows showing up in Big Sur/Intel

I recognize I'm on an ancient machine (Intel Big Sur Air) but I'm not getting the app to show any windows at all when I launch it for v0.4.3 including stuff like settings. I use Firefox as my main browser if that matters. I used the pre-compiled version and I haven't tried compiling myself, yet.

@jsnedeco Very weird. Try exiting the app, and then removing the preferences file from Terminal.app:

rm ~/Library/Containers/jcsalterego.Sky/Data/Library/Preferences/jcsalterego.Sky.plist

Or it might be here

~/Library/Preferences/jcsalterego.Sky.plist

And try relaunching. Does that work?

Gave it a shot, I was able to remove ~/Library/Containers/jcsalterego.Sky/Data/Library/Preferences/jcsalterego.Sky.plist, the other location didn't exist. Still no dice. I'm probably an edge case, a lot of stuff doesn't work because I can't upgrade OSX anymore.

Sorry to hear. The last resort I can think of is launching Console and seeing if there are any clues in the logs for Sky.

I did my best to close everything but Sky and this is a log of the errors I got on Console.

I saw some of the "error 17:22:55.319103-0800 WindowServer CoreAnimation: NULL color space set on context (5044f767)" when I tried to do stuff

My best interpretation of these logs are your OS is not happy with the app sandboxing and it won't let part of or all of WebKit load. I'm afraid this is beyond my depth!

One last thing to try: load the app again and go to Window > Fill. Wherever the window is, it should now fill your screen and you can adjust the location.

I don't have Window > Fill, but I tried Zoom and It brought up a window! A window with nothing but the blueksy logo, but progress! I give up for now, but I'll let you know if I find a solution.

Fair enough. When you see the logo, that's a good sign; I usually hit cmd-shift-R to force a reload at that point.

Happened to me on Mac Studio M2 Max (Tahoe 26.1) during the first start.

What I did to get it to show properly

💡 The app starts with no errors, but it opens in a 1x1 px window or something similar, but it's tiny for sure - I could see it like this:

• Right-clicked the app icon in the Dock
• Clicked the "Show all windows" and clicked the tiny app window
• Moved the app to the right half of the screen using the Rectangle shortcut

@dragstor Thanks! I definitely goofed when I allowed for adjustable window minimum width sizes. I'll figure out a fix in a bit here.

i had a similar issue with first start on macOS Tahoe 26.1. i went with doing Window > Center, which gave me only a title bar, that when resized down to a normal size, it rendered properly.
