Add comparison guide: IntuneGraph vs. Graph Explorer vs. Intune portal #4

Description

@juandresrodca

Overview

Create comprehensive documentation that helps new users understand when to use IntuneGraph versus other tools and interfaces for Intune management and analysis.

Current State

The README includes a helpful comparison table showing IntuneGraph's unique features relative to IntuneAssignmentChecker, IntuneCD, and the Intune portal. However, new users may not fully understand:

  • The specific scenarios where IntuneGraph excels
  • How to integrate IntuneGraph into existing Intune management workflows
  • When to use the Graph Explorer vs. IntuneGraph for specific queries
  • How IntuneGraph complements other analysis tools

Goals

  1. Create a decision tree - Help users quickly determine which tool to use for their use case
  2. Provide workflow examples - Show how IntuneGraph fits into common Intune management scenarios
  3. Document tool integration - Explain how to combine IntuneGraph with Graph Explorer, portal, and other tools
  4. Clarify scope and limitations - Be explicit about what IntuneGraph does and doesn't do

Proposed Guide Sections

  • "Choosing the Right Tool" - Decision matrix with real-world scenarios
  • "IntuneGraph Workflow Examples":
    • Troubleshooting device assignment issues
    • Planning group membership changes
    • Auditing compliance policy coverage
    • Finding and fixing orphaned assignments
  • "IntuneGraph + Graph Explorer" - When to drill down with raw API queries
  • "IntuneGraph + Portal" - Using both for comprehensive Intune management
  • "Performance Considerations" - Graph snapshot size, query speed, recommended frequency
  • "Common Pitfalls" - What IntuneGraph won't tell you (actual policy enforcement, device compliance state, etc.)

Implementation Notes

  • Create as docs/comparison-guide.md or section in existing documentation
  • Include real or realistic example output
  • Link from main README
  • Use diagrams/flowcharts where helpful for decision-making
  • Target audience: Intune administrators new to IntuneGraph, not Graph API experts

Success Criteria

  • New users can quickly determine if IntuneGraph solves their problem
  • At least 3 realistic workflow examples documented
  • Tool comparison is clear and actionable
  • Document is discoverable and linked from README
  • No unanswered questions about when/how to use IntuneGraph

Labels

  • documentation
  • help-wanted
