Consumers under the How you can help header is currently not in the index.md file.
The open letter should also be translatable. As a person reading the information about this, I would also like to have the open letter translated. I understand, that it is a legal document but it can be translated with informational purposes.

What needs to occur for this to happen? Do we just need to ask? I'd like to see it translated as well, but I don't know if that needs to be handled differently because people are signing it? There is a Lawyer person posting in #250 Maybe some advice from them?

Well making it translatable is quite simple, just like the main page we get dirs for every language and a simple file that manages them. Legality wise I have no clue, but as long as the open letter translation states that the translations are for informational purposes only and unlike the original version do not hold any legal weight it should be fine?

That's our concern as well. We are happy to have the information on the front page be translated by any of the volunteer contributors we've had so far, but if an inaccurate translation of the letter itself "slipped through" (either accidentally or maliciously), then some signatories might be troubled by the appearance of them endorsing something they didn't originally sign up for.

So we've decided to leave the letter in the original language, but perhaps we could provide localized hints somewhere on the page that guide users towards obtaining their own machine translation of the contents, either by using various browsers' built-in translation tools or linking out to an external translation service like LibreTranslate.

How is that different than having an inaccurate translation? I can only speak about Bulgarian, but AI translations of English to Bulgarian can be... interesting to say the least

Unfortunately Marc is right about this. Machine translation means that mistranslations and mistaken intention due to language shift are on the reader to sort out.

As a historical example of this issue I point you New Zealand and The Treaty of Waitangi
