It should be more obvious to the user that they need to go in and shut down their GCP machine.
Perhaps the playbook itself could do so automatically after a certain elapsed time (not sure if this is possible).

It should definitely not be automatic as that will create problems for people who are in the middle of use. What I would do is create a 2nd playbook that shuts everything down and removes all the resources (say cleanup.yml or whatever) and then make sure to document it prominently in the README.
