Think of a new name #30

Singularity is a very common name, and it also has associations with AI.

Maybe do something with my name.

I don't particularly like any of the Korean words for 1:

  • il/yil - sounds like "ill" and also means work (maybe the homonym is a good thing bc its a productivity app)
  • han/hana - sounds like a name. If I was going to rename singularity to sound like someone's name, it would be mine
  • cheot - sounds like a slang insult

In general, its hard to name an app in English based on Korean because they sound very different. "Lyuh" is also hard to turn into an app name for the same reason.

I liked the star connotation of Singularity. I like stars as a symbol in my life. Star-related words:

  • aster
  • stella
  • supernova

Tree-related words are also relevant to singularity:

  • Yggdrasil (very relevant, but is a common name)
  • Arbor
  • Dentro (dentronium? it doesn't make sense though because dentro is Greek and "-ium" is Latin)
  • Hyperion (tallest tree, good name but also common)
  • Redwood (tallest tree, also has a childhood connotation for me)
  • Pando/aspen (sense of community, but doesn't mean anything to me)
  • Baum
  • Seed
  • Sporos
  • Sapling

Mythology:

  • Prometheus

I think I might need to make my own word because every good symbolic word is already taken. I can mush existing words or make an acronym.

Or, "sonamu" might be good. Sonamu is the Korean word for pine trees. It's iconic in Korea because of how it looks and because it is an evergreen. It is one of the 10 symbols of longevity. The song O Tannenbaum, which I like, is Sonamuya in the Korean translation. It's also not a common name yet and I think it isn't too crazy for an English speaker to pronounce.
