Feature Request: Enable Datatips in Edit Mode

It would be very helpful if the extension could support datatips in edit mode as well as a workspace view. Workspace and datatips are two of the most valuable features of MATLAB, and having them fully integrated in VS Code would greatly enhance the development experience.

Currently, there is an extension that partially implements workspace functionality (https://github.com/shinyypig/matlab-in-vscode), but it still has room for improvement. Extending this to include reliable datatips would make the VS Code MATLAB environment much more productive and user-friendly.

Hi @upcygchen, thanks for the request! There is a separate issue (#100) which is tracking the request for a workspace viewer/browser, so I have renamed this issue to focus on the datatips.

These are both features I agree would bring a lot of value, and are on our radar!

Hi @dklilley, thanks for the update and for tracking these separately! Looking forward to seeing these features implemented. The MATLAB extension is a fantastic idea, and I'm excited to see it grow even more powerful — aiming for that seamless, native MATLAB experience within VS Code.
