Can't install matrix software

I don't think anyone is reading these anymore, but here goes:
Trying to install matrix software on Rpi3 running Buster OS. Directions for setup are not working.

curl https://apt.matrix.one/doc/apt-key.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

gives this error:

curl failed to verify the legitimacy of the server and therefore could not
establish a secure connection to it.

How to fix this?

In the case of still running Buster, you can just add the -k flag.
curl -k https://apt.matrix.one/doc/apt-key.gpg | sudo apt-key add -
The fix for running on Bullseye was on the community forum they took down.
I think it's a dead/scam project, unfortunately

the correct sequence of commands to load the matrix kernel and software onto the pi and prepare the matrix for re-flashing:

I overcome this I opened https://apt.matrix.one/doc/apt-key.gpg by a browser and saved the file “apt-key.gpg” to /Downloads.

Next in the /Downloads directory (or whereever you save this file) you just do
“sudo apt-key add apt-key.gpg” that prompts “OK”.

Next you run the second “part echo “deb https://apt.matrix.one/raspbian $(lsb_release -sc) main” | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/matrixlabs.list” that worked with the activated “apt-key-gpg”.

Well, looks like MatrixIO is completely dead - their matrix.one domain has been bought up by some scammy looking crypto-AI company...

I'll try to get things up and running under a new org, including a new repository for the code - however seeing there's some major build issues, I would probably require some help to sort all that out.

@kutluk09 replace https://apt.matrix.one/ with https://s3.amazonaws.com/atp.matrix.one/ and it will work.

Fair note, the packages CAN NOT be used on newer Debian versions, last supported is Debian Buster (10.x), and only on armhf target - aarch64/arm64 won't work either.

I'm working on updating the packages to run under newer versions, and compile them for arm64 too, but there's a few roadblocks:

1. The DKMS package won't work properly - tons of changes to the Linux kernel since the last change to the kernel modules means there's lots of new things to bring up, and I'm a far cry from a kernel module developer. So far I managed to get things running, with the exception of the mic array (which will probably need a brand new driver written as the audio API changed that much between 4.x and 6.x kernel versions)
2. The firmware update process also changes a lot because OpenOCD deprecated a bunch of features used, AND Raspbian changed how the GPIO pins are accessed (moving away from gpiosysfs, aka writing the pins in /sys/class/gpio, to using libgpiod). The issue here is that the Matrix team forked the OpenOCD repo without actually forking it, so it's unclear just how much of their changes are relevant or needed - and the forked version does not yet support libgpiod.
3. Most of the control interfaces (sensors, LED array, FPGA, MCU) have weird issues due to the old support lib vs new kernel. This will need to be fixed by someone who's got the skills.
4. I'm reworking the debian packaging as well, to provide a better approach to things. For example, the firmware update bits can be broken out into a separate utility package (and I intend to remodel how the update is applied, to support custom firmware for the FPGA/MCU without future package updates breaking it), separate dev headers and userspace bindings (right now there's a circular dependency that makes building the packages harder than it needs to be), and move all that into a single repo. This will take some time.
5. I also want to make the firmware update process work with the official xc3sprog and openocd packages, to move away from the proprietary/custom changes MATRIX Labs has made, and to make future support easier.

These issues are exacerbated by the fact that I managed to kill my Creator, and can't seem to find any place that has them in stock still - looks like MATRIX Labs went under in 2021/2022, and stocks of their products have dwindled since.

If anyone knows where I could buy a new Creator at a fair price (or has a backup unit they're not using and would be willing to sell), please do notify me!

As I said, the microphones don't work ATM. I lack both the knowledge/skill to rewrite the microphone/codec/playback drivers, and a working Creator to test it on.

I can otherwise report that this still works for Matrix Creator on 32-bit Buster, but will not work on Bookworm. I am using the Python Lite libraries successfully after following the instructions in this post (as modified) and running.
