Description
In a recent rogaining event (2 courses, 18 classes) where all competitors (~100) had been preloaded to MeOS (name/club/class/card), when a competitor punched the readout control multiple times in order to generate additional splits printouts for teammates, the generated dialog box correctly identified the competitor tied to the card, but the dialog box incorrectly stated that the competitor had no assigned class.
If the readout volunteer clicks Yes to readout again, it appears that MeOS is populating the Class input field in the second dialog box with the class that most closely matches the punches on other competitors cards who have already been through readout (as would be done in a training where there is little preparatory work to setup MeOS prior to runners reading out their cards). If the populated class is not the same class that the competitor is registered to and the readout volunteer clicks OK, the competitor’s class is overwritten with the class that was in the dialog box Class field, changing the results.
The bug is failure by MeOS to recognize the class that the competitor has been preassigned to and allowing something other than that class to be populated to the dialog box without warning the readout volunteer that they are about to make a critical change and asking them to confirm.
