Feature Request: Voice Control in Agent Window
Summary
Voice control via the VS Code Speech extension works well in the standard VS Code editor and chat interface, but is not available in the Agent Window (Copilot agent mode panel).
Current Behavior
- VS Code Speech extension is installed and functioning correctly in VS Code (e.g., dictation in editor, voice input in standard Copilot Chat)
- The Agent Window does not expose a microphone / voice input button
- There is no way to use voice control to interact with the Copilot agent from the Agent Window
Expected Behavior
The Agent Window should support voice input via the VS Code Speech extension, consistent with the experience in the standard Copilot Chat panel. A microphone button (or equivalent shortcut) should be available to activate voice dictation when composing prompts in the Agent Window.
Steps to Reproduce
- Install the VS Code Speech extension
- Verify voice input works in VS Code editor or standard Copilot Chat
- Open the Copilot Agent Window (agent mode)
- Observe that there is no voice input option available
Environment
- VS Code Speech extension: installed & working
- Feature gap: Agent Window lacks voice control integration
Motivation
Voice control significantly improves accessibility and productivity. As the Agent Window becomes a primary interface for interacting with Copilot, parity with the rest of the VS Code speech experience is important for users who rely on or prefer voice input.
