This is because some items can be problematic and cause crashes when used there.

Isn't it the responsibility of the mod providing that item to make sure it works in wielders?
Many mods have adjusted their code to make sure they work properly or at least don't cause a crash.

I agree, every mod should be responsible for the bugs/crashes they cause.

BTW, to block all fake players you also need to use a type check, because is_player will return true for most fake players:

	return
end
