I can confirm this problem with versions 2.1 and 2.2 (which, by the way, cannot currently be installed with brew). I then deleted the login details from the configuration file and tried to log in again. This no longer works. The error message "Invalid credentials" appears. However, these credentials are correct, as I can log in normally via the browser using the same credentials.

Looks like qobuz is changing something on their servers:

Qobuz Reddit is full of posts about this. The official Apps can’t search, download or play many tracks right now. From what I read Qobuz is in the process of moving their servers to the cloud.

To me it has been next to impossible to download any album without missing tracks for like a week now.

I can confirm I am seeing the same behavior on Windows as well.

What I observed:

• streamrip 2.1.0 and 2.2.0 both fail at Qobuz login
• the error is AuthenticationError: Invalid credentials from params
• resetting the config and reinstalling streamrip did not fix it
• changing the Qobuz password did not fix it either
• streamrip reaches the login step normally, but Qobuz still returns 401 / invalid credentials

I also tested qobuz-dl as an alternative, and it started failing with the same kind of authentication error too.

So at this point, this does not look like a local installation issue on one machine. It looks more like a change in Qobuz authentication behavior affecting third-party tools that rely on the current login flow.

I had the same issue.
Don't use email/pw to login.
Login with Qobuz token works.

Tested on Windows 11 with Python 3.12 in a clean virtual environment.

Good news:

• The PR is being picked up correctly.
• It no longer falls back to the old email/password flow first.
• It enters the new "Attempting automatic Qobuz token capture in a managed browser..." path.

Problem:

• Automatic browser capture fails before Chromium opens.
• Playwright crashes with NotImplementedError when trying to create the subprocess.

So the auth-flow direction seems correct, but automatic token capture is currently broken on my Windows 11 setup.

Tested on Windows 11 with Python 3.12 in a clean virtual environment.

I couldn't test my changes on Windows because I use macOS. However, I've updated my changes to address the Windows issues. Could you please test it again?

I was also unable to get PR955 working on Windows (my playwright install seems very unwell) but by reading the code, here is a manual way you can replicate what it is doing with Chrome and get it working without changes:

• Log in to Qobuz
• Open a new tab and press ctrl-shift-i to open developer tools
• Select the Network tab
• Press the Filter icon and enter user/login in the filter (literal user/login)
• Load the url play.qobuz.com/login
• Wait a few seconds for Qobuz to load
• In the bottom left click on "{i} login"
• In the bottom right frame that opens, click on Response
• From the response copy the "id" from the top and "user_auth_token" from the bottom

Then in your shell:
rip config open (or otherwise edit config.toml)

Edit the auth section as follows:

In the above replace id and user_auth_token with what you copied from Chrome.

If it still doesn't work, make sure streamrip is up to date, try 'rip config reset' before editing etc.

@yemaozitw The configuration part shouldn't be necessary. The new flow should prompt for these values ​​on the command line and automatically update the config.ini.

I will have access to a Windows PC this evening and will try to adjust the changes and confirm that they also work under Windows.

Thanks — I can confirm this worked for me on Windows 11.

PR955 automatic browser capture still did not work on my setup, but your manual workaround did. After updating the Qobuz auth section in config.toml with the user id and user_auth_token from the browser session, streamrip was able to authenticate successfully on Windows 11.

So at least on my side, this confirms the new token-based auth flow works, and the remaining Windows issue seems to be specifically the Playwright/browser-capture part.

I can confirm this worked for me on macOS as well.

The old email/password login flow was failing before, but after switching to the token-based config approach, streamrip was able to authenticate successfully on macOS too.

So on my side:

• Windows 11: token-based workaround works
• macOS: token-based workaround works

At this point, the remaining issue does not seem to be token auth itself, but rather the automatic Playwright/browser-capture path on Windows.

I just tested my fix on Windows 11 and freshly installed all the necessary tools: git bash, Python, pip, playwright, and Chromium. I then checked out my branch and ran the script, and as expected, it guided me through the login process. Afterwards, my user ID and token were written to the config.ini file and reused on the next run. I can therefore confirm that the fix works on both macOS and Windows 11.
