Fonts are rendered but their shape is not filled

Hi,

thank you for taking the time to provide this library! For some PDF files, the bitmap converting simply works 👍
The fonts of some other pdfs, however, are rendered but their shape is not filled with a color:

I'm wondering if you have any clues where to fix this?

Hi Daniel, thanks for the feedback! It's a while I'm not working on this library even if I know there are some issues, and text unfortunately is one of them.

I tryed to take from katjas java (Desktop) version some improvements but some others are really difficult to port to android (no java.graphics -> android.graphics direct port, and lot of matrix multiplications).
I know there are some classes commented out or not ported regarding ttf ecc (the font package).

I had a lot of issues with shades (images and text) that is not rendered as a shade but as a direct picture. Even going through the code and debugging, I'm not expert on PDF specification so that's the big problem.
I suggest you to find which "command" is managed for that text and then you can find which class is called (Thats what i've done to fix image coloring). There is a pdf specification document online (it's 700pages, so don't read it all! 😄 )

If you can create a pdf with only that text, it will be easier to test and improve!

thanks for your fast and detailed respone, I appreciate it!
I didn't know about kajtas repo, I'll definitely have a look!
I'm aware that there's this huge PDF specification 😄
I'll run a few tests to see which types of fonts/texts don't work, while others seem to render fine.
Maybe I'll also comment in (or out? ^^) some of the existing code and see what happens 😄

I read on stackoverflow that you've been working with a pdf2jpg library for firebase. hi @noauthoritybuturself . Yes i was working and trying to do it, but there is a missing dependency in firebase that do not allow to do it. I can't recall exactly what at the moment, but a small system library is not installed and hence it is not possible.

@ndorigatti , i've managed to do it with pdf.js since it doesn't use Ghostscript (i guess that's the library you meant), but i can't manage to get it working for pdf's with images, so i kept looking for other ways. thanks!:)
