Description
Hello @henrykironde @MridulS - This opportunity came to us a over the weekend. I spoke with Nicole and we'll leave it up to the GSoC leaders to decide if it's something you'd like to pursue. It seems like it runs just like GSoC however the turnaround time on applying is a tight window:
Greetings from GDG on Campus, IIIT Kalyani!
Dear NumFOCUS,
We are excited to invite your organisation to be a part of Winter of Code 5.0, an open-source program by GDG on Campus, IIIT Kalyani, scheduled from January to March 2025.
Following the overwhelming success of Winter of Code 4.0 — with 5,600+ participants, 30+ GDG on Campus chapters, and collaborations with leading tech communities — this year’s edition aims to be bigger, more collaborative, and more impactful.
Modelled after Google Summer of Code (GSoC), Winter of Code bridges the gap between students and open-source organisations. It enables contributors to work on real-world projects under experienced mentorship, fostering meaningful impact within the open-source ecosystem.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM PARTNER ORGANISATIONS
• Propose 1–5 open-source projects for students to contribute to.
• Assign mentors/PoCs to guide and evaluate participants.
• Maintain communication and feedback channels throughout the program.
