Paste protection mode: Removing text from clipboard is not sufficient to block pasting text in iTerm

Hi!

I was just testing the new Paste Protection Mode and I noticed that the Block action doesn’t prevent the clipboard text from being inserted into iTerm. Even when clicking the “Block” button, the text on the clipboard is inserted into iTerm.

I'm using macOS Sequoia 15.7.3 with iTerm 3.6.7beta3. Here's iTerm's pasteboard-related settings and options used in the Edit → Paste menu.

I mostly tested with Apple's Terminal, but yes (in theory) should work with iTerm as well (I did test it with my local install of iTerm, Build 3.5.14 and Block worked as expected 🤔).

1. Can you test with the (just) released v2.3.1? https://github.com/objective-see/BlockBlock/releases/download/v2.3.1/BlockBlock_2.3.1.zip

(Note: In v2.3.1, alerts will only be triggered if paste is > 100 characters).

2. Can you test while logging:
   log stream --level debug --predicate="subsystem='com.objective-see.blockblock'"

V2.3.1 successfully blocks paste in iTerm. 🙌

At the risk of scope creeping this issue, a few notes:

• Alert is only triggered if paste is > 100 characters. 🙌
• If I select “Allow pastes until iTerm2 quits”, then click Block, the paste succeeds (screenshot).
• Esc key should trigger Block button.
• Space triggers Allow for me because I have “Keyboard navigation” enabled in System Settings → Keyboard; I think this is ok since it's not the default OS config and can be disabled. 👍
• It would be useful to be able to edit the contents of the text in the BlockBlock window before allowing it to paste (e.g., to remove a trailing \n so the command doesn't execute immediately).
