How to 'activate' et al. in bibliography with a .csl file? #13849
-
DescriptionProblemI'm adding references to a text with a custom .csl file for the styling. When an article has multiple authors, it usually adds 'et al.' after 3 authors (see https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/9b37385e700b67ed908ebf3ac60321c60405b7e0/evolution.csl#L123C13-L123C18). However, when I'm using the Do I need to turn on something so the list of authors is with 3 authors and then et al.? Versions
Filesevolution.csl : https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/evolution.csl The quarto file : ---
title: "test"
bibliography: ref.bib
csl: evolution.csl
---
test [@tobiasAVONETMorphologicalEcological2022].ref.bib It generates this output :
However, I see that the .csl file has the et al. tag : I don't know why it is not formatting the authors properly in the 'Reference' section. |

I'm not sure to understand. The style is working as expected/intended (from your link), it shows "citation" not "bibliography": So, if you want the bibliography to have the same formatting as citations for the authors, then choose a style that does this or modify the Note that this is unrelated to Quarto CLI and is all about CSL. |

The CSL and the output are correct.
"et al." is not for the references, it's for the citation.
I believe you are misunderstanding the CSL specification.
