Epic: Apple post-v1 product evolution — discovery, media home, and platform power #151

Description

@altaywtf

Important

Follow-up program for product improvements intentionally excluded from the parity-and-launch boundary in #123. This epic does not delay the new SwiftUI iOS or tvOS apps.

Outcome

The shipped SwiftUI apps move beyond implementation parity: daily media and file-cloud jobs become easier to discover, Continue Watching and recent/offline activity become first-class without turning put.io into a metadata-driven media library, put.io personality reaches useful empty and recovery states, and Apple platform power features are deliberately designed rather than inherited from phone layouts.

Decisions and constraints

  • Epic: native Apple rewrite — SwiftUI iOS + watchOS + tvOS from one codebase #123 remains the launch epic and parity gate.
  • put.io stays content-agnostic: raw filenames and API-owned metadata remain authoritative.
  • The app remains a capable file cloud; media-first paths do not hide file and transfer workflows.
  • Appearance remains dark-only until a separate product decision changes it.
  • Existing backlog issues are adopted here instead of duplicated.
  • Work is unscheduled until an item receives a Wave in the Frontend project.

Delivery shape

Acceptance criteria

  • Every child is complete or closed with a recorded product decision.
  • User research goals in the accepted Apple rewrite spec have an owned, verified implementation or an explicit rejection.
  • iPhone, iPad, and tvOS differences are intentional and proven on their real input/layout surfaces.
  • Newly prominent media paths preserve direct access to files, offline state, transfers, and account workflows.
  • Visible work carries screenshots or recordings published from the PR with attach put <file> --repo putdotio/putio-ios --pr <number> (or gh attach put ...), and the repository verify lane is green. Link the returned preview URL, use --markdown only for an inline embed, follow the installed attach-cli skill, and do not commit generated proof media.

Verification

Each child owns its focused automated checks and real-device/simulator proof. The epic closes only after a cross-surface product review against the workspace mobile and TV product bars.
