Investigate error handling in IE11

After my review of jquery/jquery#5822, @mgol reported in the jquery/dev Matrix channel:

not sure if this is a recent change, but now in jQuery getting a synchronous error thrown during test execution shows up as an unhandled rejection in IE 11, which complicates debugging.
