[Feature] It would be great to use rtk with Codex(PR included)

Hello maintainer of the RTK project,

Thank you very much for creating this tool. I like it a lot, and it would be even better if I could use the same tool for Codex as well. I created a PR to implement a shim to accomplish that. Hopefully, the implementation makes sense so that we can merge it into the upstream.
