My Dream air is running fine in PimaxPlay as well as Steam VR.

when I start the sboys3 UI all is ok until I press the launch Dream AIR Hedset. Then SteamVR disconnects and does not find the headset anymore...The headset goes dark as the screens turn off

any suggestions about what I do wrong? Restaring SteamVR afterwards does not solve the issue...

I've been experiencing this issue frequently and have reported it to Pimax support. Could you please do the same so they are aware that it's a widespread problem? I'm not sure if it's related to S-Boys; I believe the issue might be on their end. I've tried everything, including restarting my device. Sometimes it works after I turn off the open port, then turn it back on, unplug it and replug it. However, the success seems inconsistent.

You need to upgrade to CustomHeadsetOpenVR v1.3.0. That's the version that has much better support for Pimax headsets. You'll need to get Pimax EVO and use the OpenPort option.

I have the very latest on my computer even with the latest commits from here, and it still does it

Your issue is likely 100% different. The screenshot from OP shows that aapvr is loading. That also implies that OP is not using EVO with OpenPort.

Thanks for clarifying — agreed, my EVO/OpenPort case is different from the OP's aapvr setup. I'll open a separate issue with the failed-versus-working log analysis from the last 24 hours, keep future updates there, and link it back here for reference.
