Vike + SolidJS documentation.

Hey @ryansolid (or any SolidJS maintainer(s)),

I was thinking about adding a dedicated section in the getting started documentation for creating a new project with Vike and SolidJS. Since SolidStart 2.0 is not stable for production, maybe it would be a good idea to suggest another meta-framework (besides Vite/Astro) that also supports SolidJS for those seeking a good SolidStart alternative.

Are you okay if I did make a PR that does exactly as described above?

I appreciate you opening the discussion. I might be missing the point, but what's the point of suggesting another alternative when Start 1.0 is stable?

If people are seeking their own alternatives if they're uneasy about waiting for Start 2.0, thats their own prerogative, but not sure what proposing alternatives to Start would solve?

We try to keep Solid's docs aimed at the Solid ecosystem we maintain and offer suggestions when there are gaps, but I'm not sure what this solves. I'm open to discussion, though, if I'm missing something

Thanks for replying to my discussion. That's a completely fair point, and I definitely forget about the stability of SolidStart 1.0.

My intention was mostly to highlight Vike as an option for developers looking for another metaframework with SolidJS support, rather than presenting it as a replacement for SolidStart.

However, I totally understand the desire to keep the official docs streamlined and focused on the SolidJS ecosystem. If you feel it adds unnecessary noise to the getting started guide, I'm more than happy to let it go. I just wanted to pitch an idea and see if you were ok with it.

It's important — and I think we all agree — that SolidJS works not only with SolidStart, but also with other frameworks like Astro, Vike, and eventually TanStack Start once it supports SolidJS.

This is also a sign of a healthy ecosystem being built around SolidJS. I think the growing ecosystem is one of the main reasons enterprises bet on SolidJS.

From that perspective, it makes sense for the docs to include a "SolidJS frameworks" section listing SolidStart alternatives with first-class SolidJS support.

Each framework has its strengths:

• SolidStart => the premier and default choice for SolidJS users
• Astro => content-driven websites with a focus on fast static content
• Vike => for enterprises that prioritize reliability and flexibility

That's, for example, why one of the largest German media companies, Burda GmbH, chose to use SolidJS with Vike. As a very large company, they prefer building on a stable and flexible foundation — they don't mind vike-solid adopting new SolidJS features more slowly than SolidStart.

Thanks for the suggestion and additional context. We don't really have the bandwidth to add and maintain framework sections right now. This would create an ongoing responsibility to review external projects, keep recommendations current, and coordinate with maintainers, etcetc.

At the moment, TanStack Start supports Solid and maintains its own documentation and Astro does the same on its site. Our docs currently only discuss Vite directly, so keeping them focused on Solid’s core supported paths is more manageable for us and leaving leaving framework-specific guidance to the respective projects.
