migrator: upgrade types smoke test (#944)

* in progress adding convenience flags

* add verbose printing to hide non essential command outputs

* move a few more command outputs behind verbose

* tweaking print output

* tweaking print output

* run all git ops in /tmp clone -- no cwd

* hashed out errors in initial /tmp working dir

* fix context

* fix Dir in mvu path, also fix error handling in initTest

* use shorthand error handling syntax everywhere possible

* create testEnv type to reduce prop drilling and clarify cleanup call

* update comment on initTestEnv
