It would be nice if we could upload our own Resume. Currently, the download resume button generates a resume-style PDF based on the portfolio content, but this automated version may not reflect the user's preferred resume format, personal branding, or specific content they want to highlight for job applications.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like the ability to upload my own resume (PDF format) to my devb.io portfolio. This feature should include:
- Upload Interface: A dedicated section in the portfolio settings/dashboard to upload a custom resume file
- File Format Support: Support for PDF files (primary) and potentially DOC/DOCX formats
- File Size Limit: Reasonable file size limit (e.g., 5-10MB) to ensure optimal performance
- Replace Download Button: The existing "Download Resume" button should serve the uploaded custom resume instead of the auto-generated portfolio PDF
- Preview Option: Ability to preview the uploaded resume before making it live
- Fallback Option: If no custom resume is uploaded, fall back to the current auto-generated portfolio PDF
- File Management: Option to replace or remove the uploaded resume and revert to auto-generated version
Describe alternatives you've considered
- External Link Option: Instead of file upload, allow users to provide a link to their resume hosted elsewhere (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
Additional context
As a developer using devb.io, I want to upload my own resume so that when potential employers or recruiters visit my portfolio and click "Download Resume," they receive a professional document that I'm confident represents my qualifications accurately.
