ARM64 (Apple Silicon) build of Ruby 1.8.7 in TextMate’s support archive

On Apple Silicon (M1/M2) machines, users must either run under Rosetta or attempt to compile Ruby 1.8.7 themselves.

An official ARM64 build would simplify setup and ensure native performance for all legacy bundles that depend on Ruby 1.8.

I found this issue because i was getting Bad CPU type in executable error

And the reason is a brand new MacBook with no rosetta installed, trying to run ruby that was compiled for intel. Quick work around that worked for me to solve some of the problems is to use system ruby.

You need to do two changes for that:

1. Set TM_RUBY variable in the textmate to point to system ruby (/usr/bin/ruby)

2. update ruby18 script in the bundle:

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/TextMate/Managed/Bundles/Bundle\ Support.tmbundle/Support/shared/bin/
mate ruby18

and change last line

exec ~/Library/Application\ Support/TextMate/Ruby/1.8.7/bin/ruby  -r"$TM_SUPPORT_PATH/private/ruby18_fix_loadpath.rb" "$@"

to this:

Of course this would be a hack as we are replacing ruby 1.8 version with 2.x that is system ruby, so proper fix would be to use RVM or RBENV to install ruby 1.8 built for apple silicon and set that in TM_RUBY.
