They are OK on a table element (except ignored by VoiceOver on iOS).
Tables actually get kinda mucked up if they have aria-label or aria-labelledby added to them with no additional ARIA roles to retain the table's semantics.
i wrote about this here and filed a webkit bug
until this is fixed, should this particular bullet point be updated to mention they're ok, aside from Webkit issues particularly on macOS/iOS?
